Happy Frenchie Friday

Hi all, happy Frenchie Friday! Hope you and your Frenchies are all staying warm. We’ve had a cold winter so far this year and I’ve found my Frenchies really don’t care for it.

We did have a full week starting with my cousin Jim and his wife Reann coming to visit. Of course the Frenchies totally believed they came to see them.

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

Trenton received an award for perseverance at the school character assembly.

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

After the assembly, this sweet family picked up their baby girl Ivory now Cocoa.

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

The Frenchies got more snuggles from Reann.

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

Momma never hugs us enough Reann. Can we come live with you?

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

And let’s get in a long snooze session.

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

BradyBrantley, and Diego got lots of time in the morning to romp around and play. All three boys are available and come pre-spoiled.

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

And of course get a few snuggles in. Brady offering Tytan a few kisses.

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

Diego with his big yawn.

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

A little more playtime with Trenton.

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

To return back home to watch the Frenchies wrestle.

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

My other cousin happened to be passing through. Jewels has Brandon wrapped around her little paw.

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

But she now has competition with Fiona.

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

Fine, I’ll just go to Aunt Reann.

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

When they left guess who went with them? Two of my favorites…Autumn and Aspen. They’re the sweetest girls. I knew they hadn’t place for a reason and it’s because they were meant to be theirs. Meet Jim & Reann as they will be the the new location for Frenchies in the midwest. I can’t wait to share the website with you all but it’s not quite done yet. Hoping for next week. Jim and I lived with my grandparents as kids. If you’ve heard me say this before, I’m a third generation breeder. We were put to work by grandma cleaning up and caring for the pups. I’d say Jim knows a thing or two about raising pups and Reann provides lots of love.

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

Do these girls look spoiled or what? Just what I love to see.

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023
Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

His sis is a cutie pie too. Meet little Jasmine.

Frenchie Friday Jan 20, 2023

Happy Frenchie Friday

Hi all it’s Frenchie Friday! It finally feels like its starting to settle down after so many holidays. We have one last thing to do which is celebrate Tytan’s 8th birthday party tomorrow at Dart Wars with his two legged friends. Sorry Frenchies. You can’t come. 🙂

Last weekend we got away for a day to Pagosa Springs. On his way, little Everest met his new family in Saldia. He snoozed the whole way there.

Frenchie Friday | Jan 13th, 2023

His new family was happy to finally hold him in their arms.

Frenchie Friday | Jan 13th, 2023

We stayed in our favorite bed & breakfast, Elkwood Manor. As can be seen, Odilla and Jim are wonderful hosts and spoil us while we’re there. We highly recommend it if you’re making a visit to Pagosa Springs.

Frenchie Friday | Jan 13th, 2023

Also, the boys went skiing for the first time and are officially B level skiers now.

Frenchie Friday | Jan 13th, 2023

In addition, when we arrived back Conrad’s new momma picked him up. She said what I say about the lilac fawn colors, “The pictures don’t do him justice.” He is a beautiful boy and we’re happy he’s found someone to love him forever.

Frenchie Friday | Jan 13th, 2023

Groot and Diego look like they don’t like the idea of being forced to be friends. Hehe! Diego would be great in a home with kiddos to play with. He is such a good boy who wants to be with his humans.

Frenchie Friday | Jan 13th, 2023

Grootsie found his furever family. I am so happy and truly feel like they are perfect match for this little guy.

Frenchie Friday | Jan 13th, 2023

The boys set up a challenge to not leave this space until daddy got home, and of course, Fifi decided she should join them too.

Frenchie Friday | Jan 13th, 2023

Little Ian just might be perfect. Look at this little guy. Such a dapper little guy.

Frenchie Friday | Jan 13th, 2023

He loves spending his days playing with his toys. He his available but I predict not for long. Check out more cute pics of him on his page on a the website.

Frenchie Friday | Jan 13th, 2023

Meet Jasmine. This little lady bug is the only girl I have available right now. She is a cutie pie. Nice and compact and sweet.

Frenchie Friday | Jan 13th, 2023

Her brother Juneau is tiny and compact and is developing a cute entertaining personality as well.

Juneau Fawn French Bulldog Male | Born November 23rd, 2022

I always love seeing pups in their homes living their best life. Looks like little Bosco (formerly Eugene) is fitting right in.

My daddy Nacho (26lbs) is a platinum lilac carrying testable chocolate. This means we have a 50% chance to carry testable chocolate as well. He is also 4 panel clear for his genetic health testing which is good for our genes. Maddie our momma is a lilac fawn merle (20lbs).

Include Color Descriptor: Color Sex French Bulldog Color

Copy and paste descriptor in here. See PDF on colors. Example below

Lilac fawn French Bulldogs must have two copies of the blue gene, two copies of the chocolate gene, and one or two copies of the fawn gene in order to be this beautiful yellowish Champagne color. They have light eyes and I particularly how much their eyes just pop against this fur color. They are strikingly beautiful!

Happy Frenchie Friday | October 21, 2022

Happy Frenchie Friday all! It’s been quite a week!  We’ve had our hands full with working with pups at different stages needing different types of attention and training. Ms. Sushi and Saya are joining their furever home with their new daddy this evening. They worked on walking on a leash this week. First, they started with Lessie joining them so she could show them the ropes and how it’s done. Both girls did great!

And were also very happy to be home.

I think I’ll take a nap and recover right here.

Who woke me up?

Ok Sushi.  Let’s cuddle.

Oh, and I get kisses too?

These girls believe this couch belongs to them.

We have a heater hog in the house. Who else has one? This is Cypress.

Cypress and Cabo are the snuggle team. We’re here for our snuggles. They’ve been given their own litter box this week to start working on litter box training. They’ve been hitting it about 50% of the time which I feel is pretty good for just having it a day. Maybe by next week they’ll be at 70-80%. 🙂 I’ve found most pups are naturally drawn to it if given the opportunity. These boys are available.

What’s cuter than a Frenchie pup? A pile of Frenchie pups!

We just love watching them snooze. Check out more pics of them here!  .
These little guys have been keeping me on my toes or at least out of my bed sleeping next to them. We have one girl who’s had the sniffles and I’m thankful I basically have a full ICU Frenchie set-up to care for her. We have an incubator, oxygen concentrator, nebulizer, snot sucker tools, and more. It’s amazing when you invest in the right equipment you can implement protocols quickly and keep your pups healthy.

Look at this pile of Frenchies!

We can’t forget little Fiona. Watcha doin’ momma?

The boys had the day off today so Saya and Sushi went on a walk. They did a great job on their walk.

And enjoyed a break at the park. This is their last day here with us as they get to join their new dad this evening. We will miss these girls but are happy for them to have found their family.

As you can see, we do our best to socialize and train our pups based on their age and abilities. If you’re looking for a Frenchie pup, make sure to check out our available pups.

Black French Bulldogs

Black French Bulldogs

Black French Bulldogs

Black French Bulldogs are a classic elegant coloring. Let’s talk about the genetics on how you get the black coloring. Many are confused between black and brindle. They do have different genetics. Black means the pup is solid black. Brindle means they have streaks of brown throughout their black coat. We will look at some basic genetics on the K locus and A locus. If you need a refresher on genetics please read this article.

The K Locus where brindling is inherited or the solid black color is expressed.

Two sets of genes can be inherited at this location known as Ky and Kbr. The Kbr gene is known as the brindle gene and is dominant over Ky.  If they inherit one or two brindle genes Kbr then they will express brindling. But there is an exception….of course. We will see this exception on the a locus. Make sure to learn about brindles here. The Ky gene is known as the allowing gene. This means when two ky alleles are inherited it allows the A, D, and B locuses to determined the coat color of the Frenchie. Kbr interferes with these colors and you will see the brindling in them as well. You can think two ky alleles (ky,ky) produces solid pups and one or two brindle genes will add the bridling.

Black French Bulldogs

A Locus to help make black French Bulldogs

This is a crowded locus with several different alleles that can be inherited. To make it simple let’s just focus on the one that makes black which is represented by “a” the solid black gene. A Frenchie will only be solid black if he inherits two copies of the a gene (a,a).

Black and Tan French Bulldogs

Black French Bulldogs

There’s another gene At on this locus that gives the pups tan points. It’s dominant over “a” so if your pups inherits (At,a) he will be black with tan points. If he inherits two copies of the tan points gene (At, At) he will be black and tan points as well.

What about black pied French Bulldogs?

Pied means they have a white base and in this case black patches. The pied gene is expressed through the S locus and is a recessive gene. This means it needs to inherit two copies of the pied gene to be expressed. They use a capital S to show that the Frenchie is a carrier of the pied gene and n to show it is not. For example, if your pup is pied it must carry two copies of S (S, S).

Black French Bulldogs

Black Merle French Bulldogs

Black French Bulldogs

Now you can have a black merle Frenchies as well. This might be one of my favorite colors but I seem to say this about all of them. They look like cookies and cream. Merle is a dominate gene so it only needs one copy the merle gene to be expressed. You don’t breed merles to other merles so you will not have two copies of merle.

Black French Bulldogs are beautiful and you can see come in a variety of colors. They even come in combinations like black merle pied and black merle with tan points.
