I do have to take a moment and admire my grandma. She came from ranching stock in rural Nebraska, lost her mom when she was a little girl, and found a way in life to add income to her family of 6 kids via saladmaster sales. Later she found herself in the breeding world and bred various breeds until she settled on Westies. I was often her sidekick when traveling from Nebraska to my uncle’s in Washington state where she would place her pups in homes. I always admired the way my grandma cared for her pups and for the people who purchased them from her. As a third generation breeder now, I hope I honor her. She bred for over 40 years and I can only imagine the impact she had in helping makes families lives more fulfilled with her pups. I keep this pen as a keepsake to remember her resilience in life and business and how she genuinely cared for others in her world. Notice the German spin on spelling as we’re mostly German.
